Google Sketchup as a real estate marketing tool
By Angelo Petraglia
"Sketchup" is becoming a household name and its no wonder why. Software development bibles proclaim: "Pick two out of three value propositions: Fast, Good, and/or Cheap." Yikes, is Sketchup too good to be true by offering all three?
No! The most branded and exclusive design firms nationwide use Sketchup; vendors are incentivized to model and upload their products to the "3D Warehouse;" most importantly, I have confirmed my homeowner clients are not unique in using this free tool for remodeling.
How does Sketchup help brokers? While there is no lack of Virtual Tour and Property Marketing services online, the DIY brokerage can use Sketchup to make their own interactive content for listings. Forward-thinking listing agents can model properties in Sketchup without getting bogged down in the details by snapping "room overall dimensions" and "painting photographs to wall surfaces." The model is thus not only lightweight but functions as a property life-cycle tool--a hook for buyers to immediately jump into and visualizing the changes possible for their new home or business.
While Archetypture LLC uses this great tool on a weekly basis, we are in no way advertising for Google--they don't need it. Through its accessibility, affordability and power, we hope you too find a use for this great piece of software. Merely google "Sketchup" and call for a free or bang-for-the-buck training session/downloadable tutorial. Or learn it yourself in 5 minutes flat.
